PADI LOVES Guppyfriend for helping us reduce the number of microfibers that get flushed through washing machines and that eventually enter our rivers and oceans. When you wash your synthetic clothes, plastic fibers in the wastewater could end up in the bellies of ocean creatures - and eventually in our own diets. By filtering out these particles with the Guppyfriend washing bag and preventing them from going down the drain, collectively, we can have a massive impact on marine life and human health.

STOP! MICRO WASTE is a nonprofit initiative and is dedicated to raise awareness about the (micro)plastic problem. We aim to explore and initiate great ideas on how to avoid, replace and re-use plastics in everyday life and beyond. STOP! MICRO WASTE is a non-profit organization founded by LANGBRETT, a group of surfers and nature lovers from Berlin.
Plastic plays a huge part in our everyday lives. It impacts the way we travel, how we eat, clean or dress. It is cheap, durable, lightweight and has changed a lot of things for the better. Even though, the consequences of using plastics have become more and more visible. When we think of the issue, images of plastic bags and bottles come to mind, but microplastics are an even bigger part of the problem.
It’s in the air we breathe. It’s found in the arctic ice and the remotest parts of the deep sea. It’s proven to be in our foods: honey, water, salt, beer. And it is located in our bodies: Microplastic – tiny toxic plastic particles (<5mm) that continuously break into smaller pieces and pass cell membranes and the blood brain barrier. It’s one of the biggest environmental problems of our time.
